So this week we helped Abigail get married and baptized!!!! WOOOO! We had already talked with Abi and her boyfriend, now husband, about them getting married and they said that they wanted to get married. But they were getting nervous when the day was coming closer and closer, so we told them that we were just going to go with them to get together somethings for the wedding. We got everything, and we ended up in the building where people get married by the state. My companion and I just said, "Well now that we are here, lets just get y'all married right now!" They were surprised but were grinning from ear to ear when each one was signing the marriage license. I think Abi knew because she put on white before leaving the house. The day after the wedding was Abi's baptism! She was so happy! Also on Sunday, her husband went to church for the first time in 3 or 4 years! I love this family so much! We didn't do much the rest of the week because everything was dedicated to getting this wedding to happen. We. went. on. so. many. errands. But I felt so happy because I really felt like I was uniting a family through teaching the gospel. I literally saw a family become more united in front of my eyes. We also set the goal with this family to get sealed in the temple a year from now!
On Sunday, there was a class on agency, our ability to choose for ourselves. At one point, we talked about the reason we have to have opposition in our lives. The teacher asked us what would happen if we always ate soup at room temperature. The first thing that came to mind was, "Then I wouldn't like soup." In that moment, I realized that life with out opposition wouldn't be enjoyable; it would actually be something so bland that I could never find anything to like. I could never be happy because I never experienced sorrow. In that moment I understood better this part of the Plan of Salvation. I also know that all the sorrow and pain that we have in this life can be healed through Jesus Christ. The joy that Christ offers us can heal and erase all the bad in our life, if we do what He asks us to do in order to receive this joy. I know that through Christ we can become better, but not just better, we can become like Him.
I love y'all!
