This week was hard, but it ended great! Right now we are looking for people to teach because all of our investigators went on vacation. No one wants to be in Reynosa during the canicula. But it was all good because Policarpio got baptized! He's an old man without legs, but his faith is so big, and he is really excited to keep on going to church and learning more and more about Heavenly Father. He even bought glasses to read the Book of Mormon everyday. Now we are teaching his son too. Also all the youth got back from the Mexican equivalent of EFY, and all the youth were bearing their testimonies at church. All the youth that just got baptized said that they are going to go one a mission! One even brought his friend to church!
The youth that brought his friend to church had known members for almost his whole life, and after his baptism he asked his friends that were members how much time they had going to church. When they responded "for years" he then asked "Why didn't you invite me earlier?" Something I've realized is that the gospel is something of infinite worth for all of God's children, but as members of the restored church of Jesus Christ, we often forget the worth the gospel has. We can not deny people the opportunity to live the gospel, by not opening our mouths and inviting people to come unto Christ. If you see someone new at church, introduce yourself, but don't just introduce yourself! Stay and chat with that person! It's wonderful that we introduce ourselves, but these people need friends that will help them progress! Not just a bunch of new names to remember. Take the time to pass a couple minutes with them to get to know them. Invite them to come over for family home evening or board games. Show that person the same love that Christ has for every one of us. Also if you don't see new people at church, bring them! Invite your family, friends, even people that you met at the store! Maybe not everyone will accept, but if you strive to share the gospel, the happiness that the gospel brings, then the Lord will put people in your path that are searching for the gospel. I know it's hard in the beginning, but the Lord will teach how to share the gospel, if we put our trust in Him and are willing to act when the moment comes. I know this will happen because I've seen it time and time again, the power of God to perform miracles through people that are humble enough to rely on His help as they act with faith. I know that this work is the most important work that we can do. I know that it really is the work of salvation.
I love y'all!
