So yesterday, Hermana Palmer and I were the most pathetic missionaries in the CCM. Hermana Palmer had been up all night really sick, and I had been up with her for most of it. We stayed back in our room for most of the day. She's better today, so that's good. Another elder in our district has spent most of the week in the hospital. He has an abdominal abscess, and they are trying to figure out if he needs surgery or not. We've been praying for him a lot. Because Elder Kesling is in the hospital, his companion Elder Howell is now part of my companionship during class time. Outside of class he is a solo elder, so people are always asking him where his companion is. It's really funny to see everyone's face, when he points to Hermana Palmer and I.
Another funny thing that happened was a bird pooped on me, and it was the second time this has happened since I've been here. Apparently, it's considered good luck here, so my mission should be amazing. This week we watched "Feed My Sheep", a devotional from Jefferey R. Holland, and it was so good! It made me so pumped to be on my mission and to be serving the Lord.
I know that my mission is going to be hard, and there will most likely be many nights where I will be as sick as Hermana Palmer was a couple nights ago, but I know that it will also be one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. I know that Heavenly Father is proud of me, even when I don't understand a single thing my investigator says, because I am trying, and I am here, right where I need to be. It's a little nerve racking to think that I will be in Reynosa on monday, and I could get a companion that doesn't speak any english. However, I know that whatever happens, it will help me learn and grow.
